To mark Pink October, staff at the Hydrocarbon Price Stabilisation Fund (HPSF) took part, on Saturday 17 October 2026, in a charity walk organised by the HPSF Women’s Association (AFC). The event was a celebration of solidarity, hope and collective commitment to the fight against breast cancer, with a particular focus on combating violence against women.

United by a single colour, driven by a shared cause. It was in this spirit that the men and women of the HPSF answered the AFC’s call, turning this fun run into a true celebration of solidarity and awareness-raising.

Proudly sporting pink, the iconic colour of this international campaign, the participants set off on a most unusual route, driven by a shared determination: to show their support for those affected by breast cancer and to highlight the importance of prevention and early detection.

This event had a profoundly human dimension. Every step taken reflected a commitment, every smile expressed hope, and every participant’s presence served as a reminder of a simple truth: the fight against breast cancer is not just a women’s issue, but a struggle that concerns society as a whole.

Beyond the pink ribbon: a call for the protection of women

One of the highlights of the day was an introductory self-defence session, which taught participants – particularly women – some basic self-defence techniques.

Through this activity, the AFC sought to draw attention to another worrying reality: violence against women, of which femicide is the most tragic manifestation.

This initiative, which was both symbolic and educational, helped to broaden the scope of awareness-raising by reminding us that the protection of women cannot be limited to their physical health alone. It also involves safeguarding their integrity, safety and dignity.

For whilst Pink October encourages us to look after women’s health, it also provides an opportunity to reiterate a fundamental principle: protecting women’s lives also means combating all forms of violence to which they may fall victim.
